Workshop Descriptor
This workshop will introduce participants to the analytic tools developed by VOX-Pol for the collection and analysis of data for violent online political extremism research. Interactive tutorials will include the collecting of text data using social media APIs, text analytics including sentiment analysis and topic classification, and video analytics.
Format
This half-day session will focus equally on collecting and analysing text-based Violent Online Political Extremism data, and video analytics for Violent Online Political Extremism data.
Requirements
Participants will need to bring a laptop with Python (version 3.5) installed. The Python packages for Twitter and Reddit APIs will need to be included in the Python library.
